Diablo valley college dental hygiene1/21/2023 ![]() In her free time, Melissa enjoys volunteering her time at an organization whose mission is to provide much needed dental care to underserved populations and enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, trying new restaurants around the Bay Area, and passing time with her family and two bunnies Mr. Melissa is known for her kind and compassionate spirit and readily connects with patients to ensure they are well-informed and feel comfortable and at ease. While she waits to start dental school, we are so lucky to have Melissa help care for our patients. Melissa has over 6 years of experience in the dental field and recently moved back to the area after having worked as a dental assistant in Santa Barbara for two years. The program at Diablo Valley may seem more male-friendly since it graduates 4 more women than average. The typical associates degree program in dental hygiene only graduates about 5 men each year. She began cultivating a passion for the field of dentistry and all the opportunities available to help people from a whole health perspective and has been pursuing a path toward a career in the dental field ever since. She is also a graduate of UC Santa Barbara and received her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. Melissa grew up here in Danville and graduated from Monte Vista High School. A few other things Claudia enjoys in her spare time is weekly Pilates classes, taking golf lessons, Bocce, gardening and cooking. She volunteers her time as a mentor for foster children and also volunteers her time at a local garden that donates 100 percent of their fresh vegetables to local food banks.
